Thanksgiving is a massively celebrated American tradition. However, it is applicable not only to Americans, but to people all around the world. Thanksgiving gives importance to the act of giving thanks and being grateful. #GivingTuesday is a global day that falls on the 1st of December this year, dedicated to giving back to non-profit organisations that are attempting to make a change.
Mentoring Matters
Mentoring helps many people in various different ways. To me, this internship has helped me meet people with different perspectives and ideologies. Coming in contact with such a diverse group of women indefinitely makes you more knowledgeable. Moreover, my mentor throughout this program has always been very supportive of my ideas and has had helpful insights that have assisted me to improve my writing.
The best part of this mentorship program is that it has given me an opportunity to rediscover my love for writing. It has always been the best way in which I can express my thoughts, and finding an internship that allows me to do just that, while communicating with others who feel the same way, has been an amazing experience.
Make a difference with Get Smart
Get Smart Mentoring is a non-profit organisation that aims at encouraging and motivating young women from all around the world to become authentic, compassionate leaders. This #GivingTuesday, I ask you all to donate to this organisation for many reasons. First, your donations will help expand the internship program so that it can attract people from all over the world just like it appealed to me. Second, being able to interact with people from different cultures helps you be sensitive to cultural differences while learning a lot about the societies that adopt these cultures. Third, don’t we all need an organisation that is dedicated solely to the betterment of young women, gaining no profit whatsoever in doing so?
So, this Giving Tuesday, I ask you all to donate as little or as much as you can to Get Smart Mentoring and contribute to its vision. Everything you donate matters and can help make a difference to someone else.
