SamanthaLeeI remember sitting at home one day many years ago, watching “The Maury Show,” as I always loved to do on my free mornings. I was watching this woman cry over a man that she just found out cheated on her with more than 10 women. “God, what an idiot!” I thought to myself. She was going on and on saying how every man she ever dated always cheated on her. Maury called his special guest to the stage, a renowned psychologist. This psychologist said to the crying woman, “If in every relationship the man cheats on you, the only common denominator in each relationship is YOU. If you don’t like the fish you are catching, change the bait.” BRILLIANT, I thought, this is the best dating advice I’ve ever heard!

It was in that moment I decided I must be the reason all of my past relationships had gone wrong! The man that I had just broken up with, well, I left him because it turned out he was actually married. Before that, I found out the man I was with for six months was doing drugs behind my back. And the worst, the man before him that told me I was not “wife material” because I was a waitress and said looked too plain without makeup. It dawned on me that I must be attracting the wrong men. So I decided to start working out and eating healthy to try and build back my confidence, thinking maybe if I looked perfect, I’d feel good about myself, and ultimately attract the right man. A few months later, I met the love of my life. Funny thing though; my body looked different, but I was still the same person inside. How could this be?!

you-are-beautifulAs it turns out, there was actually nothing wrong with me. You see, my man now, he loves me for ALL of me: my cellulite, my insecurities, my quirks. They are what make me uniquely me, and that is what he loves about me. The real BEST dating advice (as I figured out) is: The right man will accept you and your flaws, because YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH just the way you are. The right man will love you for you. So, no, you don’t have to change the bait to get a good catch, you just have to keep fishing.
