kathrynSpring has finally arrived: the grass becomes green again, flowers miraculously appear overnight, and the longer, brighter days make us feel as if summer isn’t really that far off after all. It’s easy to spend spring daydreaming about hot summer days spent basking in the sun, but with that frame of mind you’ll end up missing the beauty of this season of new life and new beginnings. That’s why I’m challenging you with these tips for living life in full bloom.

  • Embrace Spring Fever: Due to frigid winter weather, I’ve been stuck inside for three months! I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with reading and watching Netflix but it is high time for me to emerge from my cocoon of fuzzy socks and warm blankets. Needless to say, all the time indoors has left me quite restless and energetic. Harness all this pent up energy by taking a walk, doing community service, planting a garden, or spending time with a family member.
  • Do Some Spring Cleaning: And it doesn’t have to be household chores. Organize your thoughts and feelings by taking a few moments at the beginning and end of the day to jot down ideas, observations, and reflections. Light nice-smelling candles and listen to calming music while doing some relaxing yoga/breathing exercises. Whatever you choose to try, the goal is to focus on your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Not only should you pay more attention to yourself but to your surroundings as well.
  • PicnicTake a Few Tips from Mother Nature: “The earth has music for those who listen” – Shakespeare. Take note of the stunning metamorphosis the earth undergoes this time of year. As the days get visibly brighter, you can mimic this change by practicing positivity and optimism. Take joy in each green sprout you see and breathe deeply when you’re outside. Listen carefully to the birds chirping and know they sing for you. Be open to change and look for the good in the world; if you do, then you will find it. Just like the world starts again during spring, so can you.
