“I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday.”

… just one of the many “fitspirational” quotes that keeps me going every day.  If you know me, you know that I love to post motivational and inspirational quotes on Instragram & Facebook on a daily basis.  Doing little things like this will tremendously help keep you focused on your health & fitness goals.  Trust me, it works.  Today I am going to share with you a few of my personal forms of fitspiration…

My Marble n’ Mason Jar Weight Tracker

2013-05-21 22.19.12When I started the most recent “leg” of my weight loss journey back in January, I told myself I needed to do something different than what I had done in the past to keep me goin’.  I came across this idea on Pinterest! (fyi- I get a lot of my inspiration from that site- it’s just the best!) This is a great visual for me to watch my progress and to remember how far I’ve come.  BTW, I am honest with myself and when I do gain every once in a while, I throw some marbles back into the “pounds to go” jar.  But, it is such a great feeling when I DO lose and get to add to the “pounds lost” jar 😉

My Motivational Collage Canvas

Back in October 2012, I ran my first 5K.  Wait a minute- did you say Kate Elman ran a 5K?  Get out of here….. Well folks, I couldn’t believe it either!  My aunt and cousin had signed up for one down in South Carolina near where they live and they told me to come down and just go for it!  I hadn’t trained at all (except for working out and occasionally running on the treadmill at the gym) and I had maybe “ran” outside a total of 3 times in my life.  Anyway, I went down, I FINISHED (only 2nd to last!) and it was one of the best feelings of my life! I haven’t ran another race since then because I decided I want to get into better shape before I run my next one; but I am certainly on my way of doing so!  Oh, sorry, I got a bit sidetracked- so I made this collage featuring my race “bib” (love that it’s called a bib), added a whole bunch of motivational and inspiring exercise quotes around it, and voilà, a simple, easy to make fitsporational masterpiece was born!

My “Boy Look At That Body, I Work Out” Calendar

Keeping track of your workouts is a good way of being honest with yourself and your fitness goals.  As you can see, I’m not perfect!  But, this calendar tells me a lot.  Mostly it explains why I did not make much progress in February or March. Oh, and not to mention that little trip to Italy I made to visit Tena Elman.. va bene!  March also happened to be a very busy month for me for a million reasons, but I am not making any excuses! Again, I am being honest with myself.  The more you push yourself to do things you don’t always want to do or have the time to do, the more quickly you may burn out.  So just be careful!  What I like most about my calendar is that it shows me how working out became less of a “chore” and more of a habit… and an addiction!  The key, I believe, is to find ways to make exercise fun and you will love it!  Oh and p.s. all of those “K”s you see on my calendar stand for kickboxing… the best workout ever! pew pew. ok I’m done.. for now 😉

These are just some of the ways I keep fitspired!  Stay tuned for more coming next week!  P.S. Please feel free to share some of your fitspirational ideas below!  I would love to hear about them!

Until next time.. cheers to a healthier you! (and me!)
