When it comes to making a difference it’s important to keep in mind that kindness is not limited to human beings. This week on my Hamptons vacation I have a special visitor…a four-legged dog named Hampton!

Last year my cousins, Mike and Megan, came to visit my shore house in Sag Harbor. They unintentionally stumbled upon an abused baby pitbull in need of a home. One year later Hampton has brought them extreme happiness and joy to everyone he meets.

What many people seem to neglect when getting a pet is the fact that so many animals are left homeless and/or doomed to be killed shelters across the world. It’s heartbreaking when people don’t love animals the way they deserve to be loved and eventually allow them to end up homeless.

The only way the number of homeless animals can be bettered is through people like us. To make a difference it’s important to adopt rather than purchase your pets. If you already have pet, it is obviously essential to take proper care of them so they don’t end up on the street.

So please do your part whether it be volunteering at a shelter or even adopting if you can. This is not the last you’ll hear from me about animal rescue, so follow my Get Smart journey to learn more! Keep in mind that all different types of animals need homes and at the end of the day you really are saving a life.:)
