Crushes in high school are fun and crazy, but what makes crushes worse are social networking sites. You look on facebook to see if the persons in a relationship. Then you go on twitter and look at their bio to see if it says single or in a relationship too, but there could always be that chance that they are in a relationship but they’re not fbo or oo (facebook official or online official.) How could you tell? Well even I don’t know the answer to that. The only way to find out is to ask them, but usually we aren’t brave enough to ask and that’s normal.

Single vs. Attached

Whether you are in a relationship or not one must decide if they want a relationship right now at this point in your life. The good thing about being in a relationship is…well you’re not single. The bad thing about being in a relationship is you’re young! Sometimes you just want to be single and not have to deal with another person always being there, fighting, AND you can talk to boys without someone getting jealous.

Being in a relationship can also be stressful. If you are not in a relationship,  you’re not being held down, you can go out and do what you want. It depends on the type of person you are; some people like to be in a relationship and others don’t.

Let’s say the person you like is in a relationship, what do you do? You might be upset so don’t hold it back. Let it out  – whether you cry, talk to a friend you can trust or both! Just remember that there are millions of people in this world. There are actually those other fish in the sea people talk about! You will find a person because that person is looking for you.

This is also high school, a time when you are still figuring out who you are. You want to be with a person who you won’t have to change for, who likes you for you.

To text or not to text

Now what if the person you like isn’t in a relationship, what do you do? Say hi to him if you see him! Send him a text! If you don’t have his number chat him on facebook. If he doesn’t answer right away step away from the computer, put the phone down. In this generation, technology has its advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side you can meet and talk to people, but the negative is it makes us PARANOID! The iPhone and now facebook can show you if people have read or seen the message you sent them. Now if you guys are texting and he hasn’t texted you back don’t automatically think he doesn’t like you or he was just “playing” you.

Avoid text paranoia: tips to remember!

1. Distract yourself and don’t be paranoid. Don’t flip out if he doesn’t text you back in ten minutes!
2. Boy’s minds aren’t like girl minds. If they’re doing one thing then they are going to be focused on that one thing. If they’re playing Xbox they are only focused on the Xbox.
3. If he doesn’t text you again, then there are other people out there and you’ll find the perfect guy for you because he’s out there.
4. If you both continue to text, than drop some hints that you like him – but don’t give it all away. If he doesn’t get the hint, then tell him!

Sometimes its better to have tried and failed than to never have tried in the first place. It’s a crazy idea, but if your texting for a while and nothing has happened then carpe diem! Chances are he likes you if you have been texting that long. Whatever happens, just remember that if that person doesn’t like you, then they just lost an opportunity with a pretty amazing young woman. “Life’s too awesome to waste your time thinking about someone who doesn’t treat you right.”
