AWaciutaPicTo me, Giving Tuesday represents something so important. It is the one day during the year that we are encouraged to give back to charities, non-profits, and other organizations. The day brings people together while encouraging them to give back and celebrate the idea of giving. If we all work together and put an effort to give back on this Tuesday, we can truly make a lasting impact to the organizations that strive to make the world a better place.

Get Smart Mentoring is a non-profit organization that is committed to empowering young women and providing mentoring programs for communities that are in need. I believe a mentor is someone who can guide you in the right direction. It is someone who you trust and are able to look up to, as they will make a positive influence or impact on your life. I can think of many people in my life that I look up to and view as a mentor, and I would hope that I am seen as a mentor to others. Get Smart has impacted me in the way that it has inspired me to always do my best and strive for greatness and for that I am thankful.

Take the Giving Tuesday Challenge

This year on Giving Tuesday, I want everyone to consider donating to Get Smart Mentoring. The organization has given me so much, and it will continue to give back to others in the future. For this reason, I feel that it is important to give back to them. The non-profit is funded entirely on fundraising efforts, and without our help, Get Smart is unable to provide the curriculum, materials, and professionals necessary to execute their mentoring services. Our donations can impact the organization greatly, and help fund the tools and mentors that it needs to function properly. Lastly, I want to encourage everyone to think about the people in your lives who have served as mentors to you and the impact that they have had on your lives. Get Smart provides young women with mentors similar to the ones we know, and for that reason alone I feel that donating to the organization is very worthwhile.

So for this upcoming Giving Tuesday, I am creating my own giving challenge. I am issuing a challenge to my family and friends, asking if they would consider donating $5 to not only a great organization but also to a great cause. It would be awesome if everyone participated and was able to donate, and I along with Get Smart Mentoring would highly appreciate it. Again, I want to encourage everyone to consider donating to Get Smart Mentoring, by taking this challenge, or in any amount they are able.
