AWaciutaPicMany of us can relate to and look back on situations in which we did not feel as though we were not confident enough to take on a task or overcome a struggle. I know I have, anyway.

Our confidence levels may be low at times, and this can get in the way of everyday situations. Sometimes it may be a situation as small as approaching a person to talk to them, and other times it may be the fear of speaking in front of a crowd of 100 people. Not being sure of ourselves often delays us from starting whatever we want to do, and doesn’t allow us to live life to its fullest potential.

But, we must realize that having confidence in ourselves can lead us to living better lives. Not having confidence in ourselves limits our potential in life, and does not allow us to fully experience the world around us. There are many things that we can do to assure more confidence in the future. If we follow these steps and guidelines, we can in turn become more confident to strive for what we ultimately want to do.

  1. The first thing we have to remember is to always think positively. Personally, I can admit to often being negative about certain situations, which leads me to be less confident in general. When we think positively, we are automatically happier, more easy-going, and we feel better about whatever is going on around us. Something as simple as thinking positively can really cause a spike in our confidence levels.
  2. Believe in yourselfAs humans, we must also learn how to trust ourselves. Oftentimes, we do not believe in our abilities and our own talents; this causes us to not be confident. Whenever I have to speak in front of a crowd or present a project to my classmates, I generally feel a lack of confidence, even if I have prepared and know the material very well. In order to overcome fears such as these, we must learn that we are good enough to take on any task that we set our mind to, and our own abilities will carry us all the way.
  3. This leads us to the idea that building confidence in ourselves also requires us to know what our strengths and weaknesses are. By knowing our strengths and weaknesses, we can determine with what we are most comfortable, and improve on the things with which we are not as comfortable. Learning who we truly are can give us a great foundation for building our self-confidence.

Following these simple guidelines can help us be so much more confident in our everyday lives. When we are confident in ourselves, this allows us to take more risks and be happier with our lives in general. No matter how big or small the situation may be, we must always remember that we can take on anything we set our minds to and we all have the power to make the world a better place.
