On Tuesday, December 2^nd, people around the world will be taking part in #GivingTuesday, a new tradition that can really make a difference. We’ve already dedicated a day to give thanks, and a day to get deals. Now, we have dedicated a day to GIVE BACK!

The wonderful thing about Giving Tuesday is that anyone can donate anything to any organization or cause. Whether it’s making a monetary donation to a research fund, handing down lightly used clothes for the homeless or spending time at a soup kitchen or a nursing home, Giving Tuesday is about support and generosity.

Over the last few months, I became involved with Get Smart Mentoring, a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of young women through leadership development. As an intern, I’ve met and been inspired by an incredible group of women who have shown me that with the right amount of focus, dedication and care for the cause, we can be the change we want to see in the world (and when I say “we,” I mean everybody). When we teach girls from a young age that they have the power to do something worthwhile in the world, we have a direct positive impact on their self-esteem and self-worth, which will then help them shape a better future.

On Giving Tuesday, I will be dedicating my day to supporting Get Smart. Unfortunately, hard work and passion aren’t always enough to make a real difference in the world. Donations made to Get Smart Mentoring will be a huge helping hand to let us do what we want to do; everything from turning the website into an online portal where girls and young women can go to find inspiration and the resources they need, to developing programs for face-to-face mentoring for young girls at their schools. But everybody loves a list, so…

Why Should You Donate to Get Smart Mentoring?

1. You’ll be an active supporter of the development of strong, female leaders. We hear about the global inequality of women all around us, from the education they receive to how they’re treated in the work force. So, what are you gonna do about it?
