NicoleThanksgiving is a day of unity; It brings people together. It is one of the only days of the year most Americans get the day off to celebrate one’s gifts and that does not factor in religion. I say most because some are preparing for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two days that offer the best sales to get presents for the ones you love. But Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2014 is the day to give back, especially to non-profit organizations. It is a day to “pay it forward” and celebrate generosity. It is a day to donate to help make the difference we all want to see in the world.

On Giving Tuesday, I ask that you give to Get Smart Mentoring. Get Smart has simply changed my life and it has the potential to change yours too.

Why Should You Give to Get Smart Mentoring?

    1. I have never felt more of a purpose in my life, as I do when I work and write for Get Smart. I feel that I am actually making a difference and fulfilling my life-long goal of helping others.
    2. Get Smart mentoring has changed my life. I would like to give back to an organization that has helped me grow and given me so much. I would not be the person I am today without this organization and I am truly forever grateful. I would love to see this organization make millions of more women feel like I do after being a part of it.
    3. The passion behind this organization is unstoppable; Get Smart offers an amazing opportunity to make a more positive influence in our community. Get Smart is relatively new and has huge plans in it’s future to help more women feel empowered.

GivingTuesinternsAs cliché as this might sound, I always wanted to make a positive impact in the world. I love to help people. Get Smart has allowed me to do all that and even more. Working with Get Smart Mentoring, I have learned a lot about myself, which has helped me grow so much as a person. I have become a much stronger writer because I am actually passionate about what I write about. The support and motivation that goes on within this organization has made me live outside of my comfort zone more frequently. For these things Get Smart has done for me, I am forever grateful and would like to pay it forward to this amazing organization.

Mentoring helps individuals, and society as a whole, grow. To me, mentoring means having someone of any age listen, advise and help guide them with their issues. Nothing makes me feel better than venting my problems to others and remaining hopeful that some benefit is attained by those listening. My articles are my outlets to vent my daily struggles and mentor others on how to deal with these common problems. I ask you to give back to Get Smart Mentoring. Make a donation in honor of those who have mentored you. Any and every dollar counts. Make a difference today; the power is in your hands to make the world a better place… filled with more Get Smart mentors.
