These past several months I have been lucky enough to be a part of and work with the Get Smart Mentoring team. My intern experience has been nothing but incredible so far. Not only have I learned more about what the organization stands for, but I have also been able to meet amazing people from around the world who share similar interests, values, struggles, and stories comparable to me.
My active participation in Get Smart has allowed me to open up to others, sharing personal life stories that I never thought I would be so willing to share publicly. My experience with Get Smart has helped me grow tremendously and become an all around more confident and positive person. Get Smart has given me the chance to write about things that I actually want to write about and inspire others through my personal experiences. Writing for Get Smart has not only benefitted me, giving me the opportunity to write freely and strengthen my writing skills, but it’s also given others something to resort to for guidance.
All around the world, there are young woman seeking assistance in all different areas. When it comes to writing, I aim to write in ways that others can feel connected, no matter what age, race, ethnicity, or nationally they identify with. I believe it’s important for young women to have access to mentoring because it gives them someone to look up to and feel connected with in some way. With Get Smart, I never feel alone and I want girls to be able to feel the same way and I believe having access to Get Smart they can attain that. Whether that is for advice, a self-esteem boost, something they could find relatable, or something even just for a laugh, I want girls to have access to Get Smart as a source of guidance.
Being apart of such a comfortable, safe and an exciting organization has made me realize so much about myself in just a matter of weeks. I want to give back to a community that has helped me grow and allow me to do what I love: write and mentor others. An organization that has done so much for me and for so many others deserves to be recognized, so I ask you to make a donation in honor of those who have helped you get to where you are today just like Get Smart has for me and many others. Life is too short to hold back anything. I’m not asking for much, but just a little something because it really does go a long way. Just imagine how much of a difference you can make in others lives just by donating a little bit. Anything counts. It all starts with you, and it can all start now!
